Good Afternoon, ASE!
It is our honor to congratulate all of our 10th graders who participated in the National History Day State competition last Friday! They all worked incredibly hard over the last few weeks to revise and improve their work, and it paid off! We're excited to announce that five students/groups placed at NHD State this year, and six students will be advancing to Nationals in Washington D.C. this June.
Please congratulate all who participated, and give a special round of applause to the following NHD Regional winners below.
We would also like to share a special plea for help from the NM Council of the Humanities, which has now lost more than $500K in grant funds for its programs under the current DOGE cuts, including all funding for National History Day. For those of you that are not familiar with the NM Council for the Humanities, this organization provides hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding around the state for cultural and humanities programs at museums, public schools, universities, community centers and independent programs. The NM Council for the Humanities may be closing its doors permanently and NHD is in jeopardy in New Mexico. The Council would appreciate your help in reaching out to your federal and state representatives and ask them to provide continued federal and state funding for important humanities programs like NHD. I ask for two minutes of your time to scan the attached QR code and fill out the form to contact your representatives in Congress. Thank you for your continued support!
